How Many Answers Are There?

“Narcissist” is a label which seems to be used more often, now, in society.  But ARE there more narcissists than there used to be?  One Canadian researcher believes that we have a MASSIVE global narcissism problem.

Does narcissism simply mean too much self-love?  Although the original meaning of the word is from the Greek myth of Narcissus - a man who was in love with his own reflection and had no interest in falling in love with anyone else – there is more to it than that.  Narcissism – according to this researcher – is at the root of a dangerous global cult that threatens our world.

Is Food Security Under Threat?

The cost of living is at an all-time high and increasing almost every day.  Some of these costs are related to luxury goods, but one of the items going up in price is something that every human needs: Food.

As the price tag increases and shortages are forecast, the general public is being made to fear the stability of the most basic need. It is, however, likely that this information is misleading.  If the future of Britain's agriculture is as bleak as it's made out to be, what hope is there for us as a nation and will our farmers stop feeding us?

What A Week That Was!

The news of last week will mark the history books in a way which is only reserved for major world events.  Events like the ending of the Second World War – 9/11 – and the moon landing by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.

It is a quirk of timing that last week the UK inherited yet another early change in leader – Liz Trust being appointed PM succeeding Boris Johnson who won the leadership in July 2019.  That news is insignificant compared with the death of The Queen – after her reign of 70yrs.  The two events together however – in the same week –is something significant!

Potatoes Dauphinoise looks fabulous when it comes out of the oven!  The gorgeous, caramelised topping is irresistible and what’s beneath is just as great - a richly flavoured marriage of potato, onion and garlicky cream.

Serve it with some vegetables or salad for a veggie meal - or with sausages or fish cakes perhaps.  Anything that you’d have potatoes with, really!  This is a really quick dish to make, which goes in a low oven for an hour and a half or so, depending on your oven temperature.
