BE Kind, BE Fair, BE Honest, BE True
and all these things will come back to you
National news means just that. It can emanate from any source, being a national or international broadcaster - belonging to the mainstream media fraternity - or an independent freelance citizen journalist working from their homebase.
We will pick from the extensive tableau of news items for the nation, those items we feel fit best with our own interests and those of our readers. Those items will range between general interest topics and those which are considered important, if not serious.

It's About Taking Part
Young people in Tetbury and our local area have a wonderful opportunity to take part in a Performing Arts Festival.
Music, Drama and Dance are the entry categories and there is also a Creative Writing competition.
The people running the Festival would love to have more young people take part – in particular, more state schools.
So, if you’re a teacher in a school in Tetbury, Malmesbury or one of our local villages – what would it take to enter YOUR school?

Looking For A Kick Start
Would your business benefit from a kick start in the form of another pair of hands? If so, you could employ a young person for six months – and it won’t cost you anything!
Or are you aged between 16 and 24 and on Universal Credit?
Under the Kickstart Scheme, 100% of a young person’s wage will be paid by the government for six months. Employers also receive funds to cover National Insurance and pension contributions – plus, a grant of £1,500 for setup costs and employability support.
People Powered Clean Energy
I’m so glad that a particular sponsored post appeared on my Facebook feed.
In the fog of the information war, in which we are all now living, I had not known that we could soon have clean energy from renewable sources – a win for people and planet alike.
Power For People, the organisation behind the Facebook post, want the UK to rapidly transition to 100% clean energy. They want this new system to benefit local communities.
The UK government must be 100% behind this outfit - I thought.
It turned out - I was wrong - quite wrong.

Raw Sewage In Our Rivers
I was alerted this week by a Facebook post, advising people to check out where the sewage outlets are located in the rivers and streams of their local community. For this advice we are indebted to The Rivers Trust who have pinpointed all the brown spots.
I have to say, this is another example of my feeling akin to the mushroom. You know that old saying: “Like mushrooms, I’m kept in the dark and fed on sh*t”. How apt a saying this is here!
No Parasites In This Vaccine
A letter and a booklet have been shared with me by a friend, a parent of a child in the 12 – 15 age group. Sent by the NHS, the letter “invites” the child to have a Covid-19 vaccine.
I ran a red pen over the letter, booklet and online information referred to therein. Only one word comes to mind – FAILURE.
The letter, as I said, is from the NHS - at least, I assume it is. It bears an NHS logo, but in black and white, as if photocopied. The booklet, jointly by the NHS and Public Health England, is “COVID-19 vaccination – a guide for children and young people.”
How Do You See This?
I’ve always been fascinated by how different people can be. But on the flip side – equally fascinated by how facsimilised we can be too – and we are when certain factors are present.
What I want to draw attention to in this article, is this.
How different – and similar - we can all be in:
how we see things – how we hear things – how we read things.
And – in particular – what is good about that and what is bad.
