Community v Control by Gov’t
Bees do it – ants do it, and very few species don’t do it. The animals possess a sense that their whole community works best when they all participate in the community. They don’t need to be controlled – and aren’t meant to be!
The animal world seems to have a much greater understanding than we humans do about how their lives work best – in a community. Animals and insects seem to understand where they fit in their tribe and each of them are a significant and intrinsic element - of their tribe. So, what if we learned from these silent teachers and copied their habits? They’re here for a reason!

Personal And Business Charters
A few months ago, I told the story of an acquaintance of mine and the situation where our paths in life divided. These things happen of course, but I sense that in today’s world they are happening at an ever-increasing rate.
There’s rarely a conversation I have now where the subject - a dividing of the ways - doesn’t get raised by someone at some point. The reason though appears to be connected with events over the last four years. People seem to have become sensitised in ways that many find difficult to fathom. The question is – other than why is it happening – what are we to do about it?

Cast Out Your Demons?
There’s something not right with some people, these days. Drivers tailgate strangers for miles, glowering, before vanishing into the sunset with a final glare. Café owners throw customers out for disagreeing with their opinions.
Friends unfriend one another online – and even in real life – thoughtlessly and carelessly. People in positions of power expect others to support conflicts that kill innocent civilians. That’s not exactly new, of course, but the veneer has gone – it’s right out in the open now! Hating others is society’s new etiquette, it seems. That is – as long as it’s the right people being hated!

Small Towns – Big Ideas!
An exciting event took place recently, not far from me. A whole load of people – so many, it was a case of standing room only - came together to hear– and talk - about how much better - and fairer - life can be.
The idea of a better way of doing things is not new, of course. Perhaps, however, it’s a matter of timing. From the buzz around the “One Small Town” idea, it looks as if the world may be ready to embrace change. That change being - to release the old way of doing business – big business and the corporate model – and replace it with a new way.

Cast Your Vote With Care
Voting. Slips of paper dropped into a ballot box. It’s one of those topics that divides people (like so many topics, these days!) Some of us wouldn’t dream of not voting in elections. Some wouldn’t dream OF voting. Who’s right?
Let’s spin the question around. Let’s not consider whether we have the “right” not to vote as well as the “right” TO vote. Let’s not even discuss it – let alone argue about it. As someone who’s had the “right to vote/right not to vote” argument more than once, I can say - it’s a bit like trying to persuade someone to change the football team they support. It’s pointless!

A Time For Winnowing?
I don’t usually begin an article with a quote from the Bible. Something, however, has happened – or, rather, something is happening – that has urged me to put aside my complex relationship with that particular book.
After all the division our society has suffered – particularly in the last four years –with so many people being separated from their “tribes” this is a painful and difficult time. Just as we’re settling into our new tribes, we’re hearing cracking noises – is it the sound of fault lines forming? The jar of black ants and red ants is being shaken again! Do you know who by?

Are There Dots To Connect?
I’ve been writing recently about our world going a bit bonkers – meaning, it’s really tough to make sense of it all. It is often helpful in these situations to step outside our boxes and peer back in through a different window.
Now, I don’t pretend to know the answers to any of this stuff. But you, hopefully like me, have an open mind on it all. Are we willing to sit with a thought or two which just might make a tad more sense than we’ve made of it so far? But looking back in through another window can be tough to do in itself – and that can be due to the new challenges it gives us.

Is This What We Want - Part 2?
In my last article on this subject, I was asking if any of us could make sense of this bonkers situation we have in our world today. Everything seems as if it’s been tipped upside down and spun around. The effect is totally confusing!
The effect must be even more confusing – in a sense – for our children. On one hand they know too little of the world as it should be – but on the other, they either think they’re a boy or a girl - although are being told now by their teachers that they can be anything. This seems to border on cruelty to most of us and if not that – just insanity. But why? Why is any of this happening?

2012: End Of Whose World?
People will have some knowledge of the 2012 Maya prediction about the world. In reality, it wasn’t a prediction although some said it was. The story is that the calendar – that Maya people of Central America kept - ended.
The calendar the Maya people had kept went back in time thousands of years. It also went forward in time – somewhat more than strangely – but ended in 2012 and without explanation. Is this as far as the Maya’s got, or did the Maya’s know something about the future of human population on earth? The 2012 date gained its own gravitas in history circles as a result.

What Do We Want - And When?
If you think the whole world has gone a bit bonkers – then welcome to mine. In truth - the whole world seems like it truly is going bonkers – and that’s because it’s difficult to make sense of all that’s happening right now.
The question we could start with, is simply this one. Can sense BE made of the bonkers state we are all in – a state of bonkers which appears to be getting worse with every day? Or do we believe what’s going on is all a rather odd collection of random events – appearing uncoordinated – but with an agenda behind them - orchestrated by unseen puppet strings?

Are You Following THE Science?
No, it’s not Covid-19. The condition I refer to is far more dangerous than any re-branded cold or flu. We see infected people all the time – on TV, in parliament, roaming our streets, our shops and our towns. They walk among us, as the saying goes! They’re not asymptomatic – it’s clear they have this condition – the trouble is, nobody’s talking about it! Can we change this?
The year 2020 saw a whole rash of pandemics – no pun intended! One of these conditions has spread to almost every part of our world and infected countless numbers of people - and there’s no sign of a cure for it yet.

War! What Is It Good for?
I found it difficult to choose a title for this article. I couldn’t make up my mind whether to call it “War! What Is It Good For?” or the more pointed “War! WHO Is It Good For?” In the end, I chose “what” rather than “who” for two reasons.
One reason is – “What is it good for?” reflects the lyrics of a great song from the 1960s. The other reason is – it’s probably the better question to ask. As I write this, yet another war – or conflict, at least – is taking place. Yet another, that is, in addition to all the many wars and conflicts that were going on around the world a few weeks ago. This “new” war is in the Holy Land.

Enjoy Your Television! (or else!)
World Television Day will soon be here. What better occasion is there to think about television? In particular, what TV means to people, what TV does for people and – as a growing number of people say – TO people.
It’s ironic, isn’t it, that the man who invented the world’s first electronic television lived without electricity until he was 14 years old? But perhaps more ironic still is the United Nations claiming that television could play a role in resolving conflicts, reducing threats to peace and security and sharpen focus on how we deal with social and economic issues.

A World Without Trees?
Who among us, who cares about our natural world, doesn’t get upset at the sight of deliberately felled trees? Even knowing – or hoping, at least – that it was for a good reason can’t take away the disappointment and sadness.
When I discovered a new trend in thinking, an argument that trees are an enemy, I was immediately concerned. This trend will sound unbelievable to many people – it did to me, too, at first. It’s a trend, however, based on a thought process we all need to be aware of – and to warn others about it before it becomes normalised. Who wants a world without trees?

Unholy War - In The Holy Land
The horrors of what is happening in Israel and Palestine now is truly difficult to stomach. It’s heart-wrenching in the extreme and immensely difficult to comprehend how people can be driven to commit such horrors on others.
The truth of the matter – I suggest – is that the horrors of which I speak, are not committed at the command of ordinary innocent people. That is, ordinary innocent children, their fathers and mothers – both Israeli and Palestinian. Instead, these horrors are inflicted on others from a safe bunker - where protected politicians can pull the levers of war with apparent impunity.

Evidence Of Cults - Everywhere!
The first time I heard the term “CULT” - used to label others - was back in the eighties and it conjured a mental image of people gathered in a circle, chanting incomprehensible verses and dressed strangely.
In the nineties, I joined a personal development initiative which was signed up to by hundreds around the world – all with big loving hearts and a desire to have a positive effect on people through a more spiritual view of life. It was then I learned that anything which is considered a bit “woo woo” – and this wasn’t, only refreshingly different – gets labelled as a Cult.

Lucy Letby: Is she innocent?
Just a few weeks ago, Manchester Crown Court reached a verdict and passed sentence related to one of the worst stories of infant murder to have come to trial. The accused was an experienced neonatal nurse.
Lucy Letby was that nurse and she was found guilty on 7 counts of murder - the victims being babies in her care at the Countess of Chester Hospital. The trial extended for nearly 10mths and during that time there wasn’t one piece of evidence presented that proved her guilt. All the evidence against her was purely circumstantial. Also, certain evidence was excluded – why?

Credibility Spheres: Part 1
We all have Credibility Spheres and they define what we’re prepared to accept as real or possible. Anything outside our spheres is deemed the opposite – being what we regard as false, fake, untrue or just unbelievable!
In large part, our personal Credibility Spheres are a function of different factors – including how receptive we are to new or conflicting ideas and particularly what we are prepared to believe – or even just consider – as told to us by others. Those others might be our parents, our teachers, our friends, persons we hold in high regard, our media, our politicians.

A Deathening Silence?
There’s been a deafening – or deathening? - silence for a long time. That silence is from the entity that has been known as the government, our MPs and the political party that’s often referred to as the opposition.
Excess deaths are going on in the UK and across a great swathe of the world. One MP, Andrew Bridgen, has – after months of trying – been granted a debate in parliament on this extremely serious issue. The debate - on Trends in Excess Deaths - is scheduled for a Friday afternoon. It’s a good time – if the aim is to keep the number of attending MPs down, that is!

A Victorian Experiment?
Like many people, I watched the new documentary film “Battleground Melbourne” with mixed emotions. One question in particular, however, was uppermost in my mind throughout: How could this happen?
The documentary - directed by Topher Field - shows how Melbourne – “the world's most liveable city” – became a terrifying hell for some of its citizens. At the same time, many other citizens of this city in the Australian state of Victoria were – and no doubt still are – unaware of what has been going on for more than three years. What happened to cause these parallel realities?
